Sisters are best friends that truly get to see the real you. You may try to deny it, but your best friend doesn't know everything about you. Even if you tell them everything, they don't know everything because they aren't with you forever. They don't know how you act at home, nor do they know what your parents and you fight about all the time. Now sisters are with you everyday weather you want them to be or not. They'll always know when you're having a bad day, or why you're overly happy about something before you even get to speak. My sister and I may not get along everyday, but at the end of the day when we are brushing our teeth before bed we are acting like us again, with hip bumping and silly eyebrow wiggling. Erica, my sister, is my favorite person in the world. She's always there for me and without her my life wouldn't be the same. I wouldn't be able to see her goofy skits she performs, or her latest pinterest inspired craft decorating the fridge. Erica's important to my life because everyday I get to see my best friend and we get to talk about crazy things, and she can make fun of me when I cry during movies. Without Erica, I wouldn't be the same person I am today.
I tried to make all the photos have bright light because Erica brings light and joy to everywhere she goes. All the poses I made her do reflect her personality, or life in general. The first photo has her dancing and smiling bright, which is perfect for her because she's a dancer and loves to dance. The following one is Erica holding a collection of photos of her when she was growing up. This shows how far along she has grown and how much of a young girl she has become. The following has her with her iPad and she has that because she's always on that. It's what she uses to look at her Pinterest crafts and what she uses to binge watch on Netflix. The next one of her being goofy behind a painting she drew just shows you how creative and silly she can be. Then the last one of her being funny with her favorite minion pillow is a perfect example of how she is. She's always silly and has a slight obsession with minions from Despicable Me.
This unit has affected my photography greatly. It's shown me that light is one of the key factors in taking a photo. Without having lighting all pictures would be dark and you wouldn't be able to make a well defined photo. Lighting has affected multiple aspects of my photos. I believe that this unit has helped me produce better photographs and will help me with future photos too.

1. Looking at the photos, describe the personality of the model: I think Emily’s model has a silly and happy personality. Her pictures have smiling and silly faces.
ReplyDelete2. Visual cues: Visual cues that led me to understand her model’s personality were the girl’s facial expressions. The props and lighting really showed me the model’s personality.
3. The photographer was successful at: The photographer was successful at using the model to really showcase her personality. The lighting makes the photos very dynamic. I think she made the pictures all very different and unique which helps me stay interested in her photos.
4. Suggestions for next time: The only suggestion I would make is to make some of the shots more dynamic, she could focus on one subject in the photo and blur out another.
From the pictures that she posted I can see that her little sister is the typical and cute and adorable human. I came to this conclusion because in each photo her sister is always making a cute and playful face. I think Emily did a great job of capturing her sister’s personality through her pictures because in each individual picture she used different props and different facial expression. My only suggestion for you is to be careful with the lighting.
ReplyDeleteI think that the photographer really emphasizes the lighthearted, comedic attitude of the subject. I would expect the photographs of such a silly girl to be in vibrant color, but I really like the contrast between the colorful attitude of the subject and the lack of color in the photos. I like the clear incorporation of props to address the likes of the subject. It is clear that she is a loving, silly, funny girl who likes to have fun and is still in the midst of adolescence, having fun being a child. I think the lighting really benefits the collection both aesthetically and suggestively. The lighting gives life to the subject, and shows her personality and story.
ReplyDeleteEmily did a very good job capturing the essence of her sister Erica. Her use of bright lighting and props was very successful. Good Job!
From looking at the pictures I can tell Erica is funny/goofy, sweet, likes sleeping and Despicable Me or stuffed animals, she likes her iPad too. I got the funny/goofy quality from the picture of her outside and the picture with the painting of the pineapple her eyes crossed was kind of funny. Also with the pineapple drawing it can amuse she likes to draw or doddle and probably likes pineapples. I see the sweeter side of Erica in the picture of her holding her baby pictures because her smile just makes her look real sweet and it’s cute she is holding her baby picture too! Obviously I see that she likes her iPad and Despicable Me from the too pictures of her holding them. I really liked the way you incorporated props into almost all of the pictures and how you moved her around. My favorite picture is probably the artificial light picture of Erica holding the frame of her as a baby, that came out really nice! Some thing I would look at next time is maybe getting her to do more poses with her body then just changing her expression and prop in the picture and maybe crop a little tighter on some of the pictures. But they came out really well.
